Education & Awareness Program
The Education & Awareness Program aims to inform and create enthusiasm among students, children, and community members regarding the significance of safeguarding and preserving wildlife and nature. It has been at the center of our work, also as we know that there are only limited possibilities for aspiring conservationists to engage with nature protection organizations and aim to encourage a new generation to consider a career in conservation.
Currently, we run an education in the Netherlands. An example of this is at Yuverta Helmond where we run a 8-week curriculum every year. Elsewhere in the Netherlands, we actively engage in education initiatives and awareness campaigns. We offer presentations about our work at schools, universities, companies, and other organizations. Education programs can be designed to the needs and wishes of the schools or other organizations who are interested. If you are interested, please reach out to us and we’ll be pleased to discuss the possibilities.
In Indonesia, together with the Cikananga Wildlife Center, we have developed an ongoing program in which we host visits from local elementary schools, high schools, and universities at the center itself. This provides fundamental conservation education for different ages, for different education levels. At the center we engage and use interactive methods, we impart to children and students the importance of our work and wildlife nature conservation, as well as animal welfare. We also welcome student groups from Indonesian schools and Universities, from International schools in the South Asian region, or from further abroad, such as Aeres Almere from the Netherlands.
Furthermore, alongside our education program, we conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns during all releases and conservation programs we run. Here we are targeting the local community and government authorities at the release sites and neighbouring villages. This proactive approach ensures the success of our release programs, creates the awareness for the value of nature conservation, and creates a positive environment where conservation or nature protection is less known.
